In August 1914, Capellani was shooting Hugo’s Quatre-vingt-treize when war erupted. Film production was curtailed, and Quatre-vingt-treize was not exhibited until 1921. The film had always been credited to Capellani and André Antoine. My research in contemporary documents shows that Antoine’s input was limited.
