The conclusion argues that, even after many aid workers came to doubt the wisdom of unwavering support for the authoritarian regime in Saigon, American policy makers refused to heed their advice or change course in Vietnam.It summarizes the key findings of the book while considering parallels between American efforts in Vietnam and US interventions in other parts of the world.Finally, it suggests some of the legacies of nation building and modernization in South Vietnam.
